Settling In

Hope and I are finally really settling in to our little home here, and getting used to our new life. We went to church this morning at the little church that Eagle's Nest owns. It was a three hour long service which all of the small children had no trouble sitting through, pretty impressive. Then we had some time to just rest and hang out. I have the feeling that we are about to get very busy starting tomorrow as the kids go back to school and our week starts... so we will try and keep updating as often as possible.

Here are some pictures of our adventures today!

We still didn't have spoons so we had to eat our cereal with serving spoons... good thing Hope has a giant mouth!

This is the church that is held in the school building

The best part of our day was when Hope found us a microwave under the stairs in our apartment building. It took a bit of cleaning up but works great! (Levi if you are reading this tell Crosby that all the microwave cleaning training she gave me has finally paid off)

We also received silverware, a pot, and a coffee maker! Nothing could have made us happier.

We spent this afternoon making our Teacup Prayers! Really they are just teacups filled with names to pray for each day. If you are reading this your name is probably in there :)

We finally got a chance to take some pictures of where we are staying. Eagle's Nest is up on a hill that overlooks Lake Atitlan so our view is incredible! One of the prettiest places we have ever seen.

This is the pool on the Eagle's Nest campus. The word on the street is, it is freezing, and the kids like to push you in... we will have to be careful.

This is the manna feeding center where the kids from the village can come every week day to get one square meal. They usually serve about 60 kids a day.

The rest of our afternoon we spent in the children's home trying to learn names. We learned a few, but we have a long way to go...

One of the girls took the camera and took a million pictures of Hope... here are some of the best ones

The kids got to watch a movie because it was raining

But most of them were more interested in the IPad

Esperanza y Marisol

We then helped feed the kids dinner, which they scarfed in about 10 minutes.

Then we attempted to make our own first meal... it was interesting... ya that's about all I can say

This one is difficult to make out but the volcano in Antigua is erupting and we can see it from here. That orange glow is the very top of the volcano.

Welp that's all for now folks
